麻豆原创-eLearning

Empowering Student Minds, Shaping Futures Online

The 麻豆原创 recognizes that our students have a diverse set of needs, skills, goals and preferred learning styles. Regardless of their differences, we are at our best when we help all students discover and develop their God-given gifts and their sense of vocation and purpose. Guided by the principles of excellence, access and equity, we look for innovative ways to ensure a successful outcome for every student.

Secondary students can enroll in an eLearning course as one of their four day-school courses in either Semester 1 or Semester 2.

eLearning Model

The eLearning model of instruction is delivered via 鈥渁蝉测苍肠丑谤辞苍辞耻蝉鈥 learning. This means that students and their teacher do not have to be on-line at the same time. Asynchronous eLearning makes it possible for students to log on to the Virtual Learning Environment at any time of the day or week, and engage in course materials, resources, activities along with communicating to classmates and their teacher. This approach allows for much needed flexibility in student timetables.

The eLearning Experience

In many respects, eLearning courses differ from traditional face-to-face classes in the learning modality only. As is the case with our regular day-school classes, eLearning courses are delivered from a distinctly Catholic perspective. In addition, every teacher of an eLearning course is a full-time teacher qualified with the OCT. These educators use a wide range of collaborative communication and administrative tools to support student learning and success.

NOTE

This program is only available to 麻豆原创 students or out-of-board students registering through an Ontario eLearning Consortium member board.

eLearning courses begin one week after the start of the school semester. On the first day of eLearning, students will participate in an orientation module familiarizing them with the D2L Brightspace Virtual Learning Environment. On the second day, the regular course content material will begin.

Students must complete all course work by the end of the semester.

Students must attend one mandatory virtual 鈥楳eet the Teacher鈥 Night conducted via Google Meet, at the beginning of the course.

麻豆原创 eLearn credit courses do not have exams. Instead, rich performance tasks are embedded as final culminating assessments.
However, if 麻豆原创 students are taking out of board eLearn courses, they may be required to write a final examination.

As of February 2022, the Ministry of Education now mandates that all secondary students in Ontario complete two online learning (eLearn) courses as part of the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This change was introduced as part of .

PPM 167 also states that students may opt out of this graduation requirement. To opt-out, the appropriate form must be filled out by parents/guardians and the student, and then submitted to the Guidance Department at the student's home school. To access a copy of the form, please contact your home school Guidance Department.

Meet with your Guidance Counsellor to discuss whether eLearning is right for you. In addition, you are encouraged to:

  1. Explore the rest of this site.
  2. Speak to your parents/guardians about your desire to take an e-course.
